How does Botox work?
Botox uses botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin, to temporarily paralyze the muscles in your face that cause wrinkles. This allows your skin to appear smoother for 4-6 months, depending on how long it takes your body to metabolize the medication. Botox also prevents the nerves in your skin from signaling your muscles to contract forcefully when you move your face, so it can prevent wrinkles from forming, too.
