About Bridget Jemison

I was born in Los Angeles, to wonderful loving parents who encouraged me to strive to be my best each day.  I graduated from a magnet silver seal high school and received my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Cal State Dominguez.  I then went on to graduate from the post-baccalaureate program for Physician Assistant at Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science. 

I was that child who at an early age knew that I wanted to be able to help others when I grew up. I was always drawn to science and space in school and becoming an astronaut with special emphasis on delivering health care in space to other astronauts seemed like the perfect career; Having a father who worked in the  Aerospace industry probably helped to stimulate my desire to work as an astronaut and ultimately for NASA. 

Unfortunately, my childhood asthma derailed my dream of becoming an astronaut so I reset my sights on providing health care to my community, which turned out to be more rewarding than I could have imagined.  I enjoy every minute of every day, performing the services that I have been trained to do in a conscientious and caring manner. I have worked in Urgent Care, Orthopedic/Physical medicine, and general practice for many years.  Meeting new patients and seeing their lives change continues to motivate me every day.

My hobbies include photography and being a Lakers Fan. I think Kobe Bryant was one of the best players of all time…and Mexican food rules!
